Originally conceived as a side project, SNAKE MOUNTAIN emerged as a creative outlet inspired by 80s and 90s cartoons, action films, and the darker facets of pop culture. Since its inception in 2015, the band has undergone various stylistic evolutions, ultimately establishing a blistering, high-energy brand of Melodic Technical Death Metal by 2022.

Embracing their new heavier musical direction in early 2023 with the release of the single “Veins”, which was again followed up in 2024 with the band’s first EP Villainous 1: Reverence, including the single and video for the crushingly heavy track “Everliving.” The Villainous 1: Reverence EP was also celebrated with a very successful dedicated EP launch show at The Boiler Room (Yatala) and tour.

The EP was quickly followed by the standalone single “The Revenant,” which earned national and international airplay, giving listeners a glimpse of the band's upcoming musical evolution. During this time, the band landed support slots for prominent Australian acts including Freedom of Fear, Nicholas Cage Fighter, Witchgrinder, Be’lakor, and King Parrot, and international supports for Fleshgod Apocalypse, Wolfheart, and Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth). Along with extensive touring taking them from Central Coast Queensland to Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, and more.

The band closed out the year with a set on the Garage Stage at Brisbane’s GOOD THINGS FESTIVAL, and launched into 2025 with a bang—opening for Alestorm and Nekrogoblikon at their SOLD OUT Tivoli show.

2025 saw the band proving themselves on much larger stages at home and across the country with supports for international heavyweights including Testament, Gutslit, Gutalax, Possessed, and Onslaught, while also travelling back to Adelaide for Southern Death Fest and Alice Springs for Blacken Open Air, where they played an opening night 10pm slot sharing a lineup with the likes of Uada, Blood Duster, Earthless, Gutalax, Battlesnake, Hidden Intent, and Frenzal Rhomb.

SNAKE MOUNTAIN’s festival appearances include: Good Things Festival, Wallapalooza Festival (Gold Coast), Metal United Down Under (Headliner, Maryborough), Drencher Festival (Geelong), Necrosonic (Brisbane), Southern Death Fest (Adelaide), Blacken Open Air (Alice Springs). The band has also performed at several benefit shows and festivals in support of Mental Health (Metal Health) and the Brisbane Unites Bushfire Fundraiser.
